About the Event

 

One for foodies and families alike, this event will showcase some of the best food, drink and talent our region has to offer - with a focus on inspiring kids to cook.

For the grown-ups, we have a line-up of fantastic local chefs providing cooking demonstrations throughout the day, giving you the chance to sample some mouth-watering delights as well as ideas for you to try at home, including: • Jim Fisher, Exeter Cookery School - Perfect Puddings: Chocolate Fondants • Stuart White, The Victoria Hotel - Gin & Tonic Trout • Michael Perry, The Kitchen at The Donkey Sanctuary Sidmouth - A Taste of the Orient: Authentic Thai Curry • Leon Hall, HandtoMouth Bakery - Well Bread: A Sourdough Demonstration • Martin Farnes, Complete Meats - Making the Most of It • Sue Stoneman, South West Home Cook of the Year 2016 & 2017 - Savoury not Sweet: Choux Puffs • Conor Boakes, South West Junior Chef of the Year 2018 - Plant Based Tastes Great: Mushroom Risotto

As the name suggests, this is a family event, so it is not just about improving your own culinary skills but giving the little people in your life a head start in the kitchen. They are never too young to learn to cook and getting hands-on and stuck-in is a great way to do this – and there is no mess for you to clean up afterwards! Just head to the KidsZone where Food Is Fun CIC will be helping youngsters make their own fish finger bap or mini pizza and side salad for lunch, followed by a fresh fruit salad for dessert. Throughout the day, they will also have the opportunity to take part in one of the following workshops or demonstrations run by The King's School Ottery St Mary: • Spaghetti and meatballs in tomato sauce • Ravioli (vegetarian) • Cous cous salad (vegan option) • Refrigerator log cookies (vegetarian) • How to prepare chicken for a variety of uses • Bread dough kneading with HandtoMouth Bakery.

As well, they can decorate a donkey biscuit for an afternoon treat, get crafty at the colouring-in station and have their face painted. Entry into the KidsZone costs £5 per child and includes all of the above in the entry price.

Alongside this fantastic line-up, we will have a variety of high-quality local artisan produce to treat yourself to, including the likes of Riverford, County Cakes, Budleigh Bees, The Cherry Tree Preserves, Branscombe Vale Brewery, Norsworthy Dairy Goats, Lyme Bay Winery, HandtoMouth Bakery, Taw River Dairy - Luxury Ice Creams and Sorbets., Passion For Pie Limited, India in a Jar, Oakcroft Farm Produce, Dough Eyes, Little Acorn Bakery, Good Carma Foods and Joshua's Harvest Store.

No doubt all of this will have whet your appetite, so tuck in to some delicious eats from local street food vendors including The Big Kebabski (vegan), Flaming Good Pizza Co., Good Game., Crepe Canteen, Barnova - Event Bars and The Pedler Coffee Co.

And to top it off, try your luck at winning any number of great prizes up for grabs in the ‘pick a prize’ raffle and don’t forget to enter the complimentary prize draw for the star prize of the day.

The majority of the event will be held inside a marquee but our street food vendors and some traders may be situated outdoors, so come prepared for the British weather with appropriate footwear and clothing.

Admission £2.50 per adult including prize draw entry, under 12s are free. £5 per child for entry into the KidsZone (includes lunch). Free parking and dogs are welcome on a lead.

All proceeds go directly to the worldwide work of The Donkey Sanctuary.
