If you’re looking to spend some time with the kids in rural East Devon, truly away from the crowds and parking battles of the coast, this is the place to come!

Opening Wednesday-Sunday throughout June and July (2021), Goren Farm is a beautiful oasis of calm set amongst rolling hills and in acres of its own wildflower meadows.

Run by a friendly family who are happy to tell you all about the farm, meadows and kitchen garden on arrival, you can wander the paths through the flower meadows before sitting down to a cream tea/ homemade cakes/light lunch menu and Goren Farm apple juice (or proper cider!) in the garden.

There’s a hammock, some play equipment and even a rustic tree house for younger kids to enjoy all in very pretty surroundings.

You can make your exploration as long or as short as you like, with acres to explore or shorter, mown loops across the fields.

Feel free to bring a picnic to enjoy in the grounds on a picnic blanket or one of the benches dotted around.

Entry is £5 per family as part of the National Garden Scheme.

On-site parking is free (mowed field).

Access around the site close to the farmhouse is fairly buggy-friendly as neat paths have been mowed into the meadows but it is still grassy and uneven in places - baby carrier would be preferable for longer walks into the wooded area. On this note, I did slightly regret wearing sandals, boots or trainers would’ve been better even on a dry day.

Facilities - rustic toilet in outbuilding

Card payments accepted but may be best to take cash just in case. Card machine was playing up during our visit.

Look out for some lovely family-friendly events popping up at Goren this summer - music and nature open days, outdoor theatre and hopefully the return of Goren Farm Festival next year. Follow them on Facebook to keep up to date on all forthcoming events and for contact details.
