The Reef Soft Play at Seal's Cove, Bridport

Seal’s Cove is a multi-function indoor activity centre on the outskirts of Bridport in West Dorset, filling the soft-play gap in the area and providing that much-needed ‘what to do when the weather is foul’ option for families.

For now (as at April 2023) there’s a 3-floor soft play centre, catering for babies, toddlers and primary school-aged kids (up to 1.55m height) with café, and a separate indoor rock climbing centre, but I also hear there’s axe throwing and a shooting range on the way. Will update on age suitability for that as more info is released!

The building feels very fresh and modern with a pirate theme throughout. The soft play has lots of tables next to the main play structure, which has an integral area for age 3 years and under. There’s also a designated area for babies and smaller toddlers, in a separate area beyond the tables near the loos. There’s lots to keep the kids entertained in the play structure with the jewel being the big blue drop slide which (thankfully) is manned by a member of staff.

Breakfast and lunch options along with cake, snacks, slushies (and, I was amused to discover, wine!) are available from the internal café, with cooked options and packed lunches all coming in at reasonable prices.

In school holidays the sessions get booked up fast so it’s a good idea where possible to pre-book online to avoid disappointment. Sessions last for 2.5 hours and you can arrive at any point during your slot.

Parking on-site is free but gets full quickly so you might have to find somewhere to park on the trading estate if you arrive later on to a busy session.

One further tip – as usual with soft play, kids have to wear socks, and it’s advised they wear long sleeves/trousers to cover bare skin on the drop slide.
