Vivary Park, Taunton - Things to do with kids in Taunton

If you’re looking for somewhere to get active with the kids, or just somewhere for a little stroll and to feed the ducks, Vivary Park has a lot going for it. It’s a large public park and gardens close to the centre of Taunton in South Somerset with lawns (great for a summer picnic / frisbee etc) and a surfaced path looping around the perimeter – ideal for pushchairs, scooters and bikes.

Two playgrounds provide loads of fun for younger children with plenty for toddlers and a big climbing frame for older kids – you might like to bring a bucket and spade as there’s a big sand pit with sand play in the larger of the two playgrounds.

A small café and an ice cream / coffee vendor provide light lunches and grab & go snacks.

Or bring along your racquets and balls and have a go at tennis on the courts – it’s a ‘turn up and play’ arrangement with no pre booking needed and no fee.

On the side of the park next to Vivary Golf Club you’ll find the Everyone Active High Ropes & Climbing activity centre, where kids age 5+ (or those who are brave enough) can test their balance and climbing skills on the low ropes, high ropes and climbing walls – pre-book a timeslot online to guarantee availability. It’s £12 for the low ropes course and climbing wall, or £18 for the full experience. Finish off your day with a round of mini golf which doesn’t need to be pre-booked.
