Soft play in Seaton Jurassic Discovery

Parents of small children rejoice, a new soft play has opened in the seaside town of Seaton, East Devon – somewhere to take kids aged up to 12 years on a rainy day or if you just want to enjoy a good coffee while the smalls run off some steam.

Jurassic Discovery is Seaton’s brand new attraction and it’s split into two parts – the indoor soft play, which opened in time for the 2024 Easter holidays; and a state-of-the-art interactive attraction taking you through the last day of the dinosaurs which will open in summer. (On my list to check out!)

We visited the new soft play during the first week of opening, on a rainy sell-out day. During busy periods like school holidays and weekends it’s advisable to book one of the three, two-hour play slots in advance. Walk ins are accepted, if they have space!

The play structure has three floors and features all the favourites – several slides, rollers (the ones that the adults often get stuck in) a ball pool and lots more. There isn’t a separate area for tots, but adults can enter the play structure to supervise little ones. Those who used to visit the soft play at Pecorama may recognise it- it was bought by the owners (Seaton Tramway) when the soft play at Peco sadly closed!

The seating area looks on to the play structure so you can keep an eye, and the café serves coffee, cakes, all day breakfasts, a kids menu (sorry, a Microraptor Menu), jackets, main meals – you’re well catered for.

It’s clean, it’s busy, the food service was good, there’s wi-fi, and the kids came out fed, happy and exercised – thumbs up from us!

Jurassic Discovery is situated next to Seaton Tramway – you can watch the trams come and go from the soft play windows.  You can buy a ticket just for the soft play, or buy a good value ticket bundle to include a Tramway Explorer ticket. The tramway is a great day out for families under 12s (some older kids may also secretly enjoy it too) – check out my write-up here.
